Our story

Why Kongwa Elders's Voice was created

The association was born from community conversations with elders, single mothers and CALD families who were experiencing isolation, financial stress and lack of culturally safe spaces.

Many elders felt disconnected from family, culture and language. Single mothers carried heavy responsibilities, often without extended family support. We listened to their stories and co-designed programs that respond to real needs: social groups, sewing classes, cultural gatherings and practical help.

Today, we continue to grow as a volunteer-led association, working in partnership with local community centres, churches, services and donors to create safe, welcoming spaces where people can belong and thrive.
